Welcome to the Museum of Role Playing Games. We use these virtual galleries to show visitors a representative assortment of rare, obscure, and out of print games, some dating from the beginning of the hobby. Role playing games started in 1974, with the publication of Dungeons & Dragons. The hobby grew slowly, arguably peaking in the 1990s, but it is still going strong. Most of the old classics are known today only by name and reputation. They are rarely seen, and when available at all, have prices in line with their status as rare collectables. Interested readers have few opportunities to learn about them. Hence, the museum. We provide detailed reviews, including the main mechanics of play and personal reminiscences. Where possible, we direct people to resources for those games still supported and played. We continue to slowly expand to showcase other interesting and hard to find role playing games. |
